QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Is all magic done with smoke and mirrors?

Not really. Cetainly alot of tricks and large stage illusions have mirrors. In my video, you will see an illusion I designed simply called the "Mirror Illusion." In this illusion, the mirror is only used as an ascetic effect, to add beauty and style to an appearance illusion. Smoke is generally used also as an effect, but in many illusion shows could also be used as a cover for a vanish.

Are there that many female magicians?

In a field mostly male dominated, through the years there have been many excellent female magicians. Not all of us are assistants.

Was it hard going into a career which is so male oriented?

Yes. Incredibly. Most of my friends in this business are men, mind you, sometimes that can be nice. It can also be quite a battle, when you are up for the same jobs. And even though there alo of men, there are alot of jealousy in the field.

Who is your greatest influence on your career?

My beloved grandfather, A.D. Sigtler III (Buster). My grandaddy as I called him, always performed for me as a child. I grew up in his home and he was like my father. We has a special relationship. Although he died when I was 12, I still miss him very much. Sometimes I feel like he is watching over me, especially when I am performing. He was a wonderful person, highly respected in our community and in his job. When he wasn't working, I spent most of my time with him, whether it was pretending to work on cars in his garage or doing magic with him.

Do you get very nervous when you are performing?

Absolutely. I would not be normal if I did not get nervolus. I usually am pretty calm before a show. I like to be very quiet and meditate about what I am about to do onstage. Afterwards, especially if its been a great show, that's when my nerves kick in and I usually am shaking a bit.

Do you use your looks and sex appeal in your magic?

Definitely. I use it all the time. It sort of has become my illusion. But, of course, you have to have a bit of intelligence to get through a performance. I happened to be lucky enough to have great parents, so, of course, my mum always taught me to use  what I've got!

Does anyone else in your family do magic?

No. I am the only one.

What do you think of the new telveision specials, "Magic Secrets Revelaed" and the mask magician?

First of all, anyone can go to the library and find out the secrets anytime. Secondly, I thought it was the most poorly written script I've ever heard. I guess I just got tired of hearing the commentator say, "An now his lovely assistant," over and over again. Even a child could write a better script.

Who do you feel is the best magician today?

That is a really tough question. I have many friends in this business and I do not want to offend anyone. I would have to name my top three. Lance Burton, whom I've known for years now, is so wonderful, and has always been nice to me, (he's not bad looking either). David Copperfield is obviously one of my favorites and I've known David since I was in college. He is such a genuis. I had the pleasure of also meeting Claudia Sciffer, David's fiancee at the time, at one of his Las Vegas shows. Siegfried and Roy are my other favorites. I just love the cats and I always had a crush on Siegfried.

How does someone who has never done magic get started and where do you buy tricks, illusions and supplies?

A good place to start is right here on my website. I have a huge store with lots of simple tricks that anyone can learn on there own given proper time. Once you master a few small items, you can move on to larger and more complicated tricks and illusions. There are also many retail magic shops located all over the world where you can purchase a wide variety of magic supplies. You will find many of them listed here on my website.
